BOCA RATON, Fla. – Down 4-1, Florida Atlantic University softball (3-13) went to the bullpen for Kara Lokeinsky. The senior hurler did what she does best, holding Coastal Carolina (6-5) scoreless through the final three innings and giving FAU a chance to mount a comeback. The Owls added an additional run and would have runners in scoring position in each of the final three frames, but ultimately fell, 4-2.

Joyce's Take

"Kara [Lokeinsky] was great," said Joan Joyce, FAU's head coach. "Kara spots the ball so well. When she makes a mistake, she is going to get hard, but it is not very often that she misses her spots. She keeps batters off balance a little bit and just gets the job done."

Freshman leadoff hitter Kaitlyn Cunningham was 2-for-4 on the night and scored from second on a shallow single in the bottom of the first
Riley Ennis, who batted second, also was 2-for-4 and recorded the team's only RBI
Senior Fayth Davis hit a double off the bottom of the left field fence and scored the Owls' second run
Maya Amm drew the start at short, had an outstanding defensive outing, and rounded out the Owls who recorded a hit
Donnie Gobourne started the game in the circle, took the loss and fell to 1-4 on the young season
