TAMPA, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University's softball team (3-10) split with host USF (3-4) on Sunday, finishing the weekend playing their best softball of 2021. The Owls picked up a 1-0 eight-inning win that followed a 4-2 game one loss.
Â
"I'm very pleased with the way the day went," said
Joan Joyce, FAU's head coach. "We hit the ball pretty well in the first game and basically outplayed them [6 hits to 2], but gave up a home run that basically cost us the game. We played very well in that game. It was just another one of those games. We turned around in the second game and faced one of the country's best pitchers for the third time this weekend. But this game we made good swings. It took eight innings to win the ballgame. Both teams played really hard. It was a great game."
Â
On playing your best ball heading into the Parents' Weekend Tournament:
"If I can watch one more game to see how we play in the next game, I might be able to say that. I think maybe we could have turned the corner. But I'm not positive if that is the case yet. We have play well but have played some really good teams."
