BOCA RATON, Fla. – It's a quick turnaround for Florida Atlantic University men's basketball, as after a road contest Wednesday night, the Owls return home for a Friday night in-state matchup. The squad will host Florida Tech at 7 p.m. on Abessinio Court inside FAU Arena.
Â
The last out-of-conference home tilt for the squad will be streamed live on CUSA.TV, and fans can listen in as well on Fox Sports 640AM South Florida.
Â
Owls' Week in Review
In just the team's second game away from Boca Raton, the Owls (6-5) saw their season-best three-game winning streak come to an end against VCU Wednesday. Alijah Martin went into double digits for the seventh time this season with a team-best 13 points against the Rams.
Â
Owls' Opponent in Preview
Florida Tech (8-2), from Melbourne, and a Division II Sunshine State Conference member, is coming off their first loss since their season opener – with an eight-game winning streak in between. The Panthers come in scoring 85.8 points a night, led by Sesan Russell's 17.6. Mekhii Noble has had nine double-doubles in 10 games, averaging 16.3 points and 12.8 rebounds (third highest in all of DII individually, towards the team's 46.7 per game, tops in the division).
Â
Opponent History
The Owls and Panthers have met 13 times. FIT won the first 10 matchups, from 1988 to 1992; FAU has taken the last three (January 1993, and in both 2009 and 2018). The most recent decision went in favor of the Owls, 98-52, on Nov. 7, 2018, in head coach Dusty May's first game atop the program.Â
Â
After This
FAU's last game before the holiday break is on the road, next Tuesday, Dec. 21, at High Point. After a little more than a week off, Conference USA play begins with two matchups at FAU Arena: Dec. 30 versus Charlotte, and Jan. 1 hosting Old Dominion.
