Owls to Face Hilltoppers in Penultimate Series of the Season

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team (10-11, 2-6 in Conference USA) will square off with an old nemesis this weekend as they welcome the #19 Western Kentucky Hilltoppers to FAU Arena for the biggest matchup of FAU's season.

Western Kentucky carries an 18-1 record into the contest - their only loss came over a month ago to Ole Miss - and are riding the nation's longest active conference and road winning streaks at 39 and 19 matches, respectively.

The Owls enter the weekend coming off a split series against FIU where they swept the Panthers in straight sets in match one last Friday. FAU hopes to bring the same defensive energy into this match that enabled them to average 15 team blocks over the last two matches.

Put Some English on It

Sophmore MiaBella English has pulled in 120 digs so far this season and has yet to make a reception error. Her keen eye for the ball and sound technique have enabled her to thrive in the Owls' two-setter system and she sits five assists shy of the team lead behind teammate Stephanie Young.

Send 'em Packing

Sophomore middle blockers Aniya Harvey and Alicia Hearn have each come into their own this season as accomplished defenders in the FAU frontcourt. Harvey is putting up a career-best in efficiency with her team-leading 0.98 blocks per set, while Hearn's .71 mark is also a career-high.

Power Punches

The Owls' have averaged more than six service aces as team over the last three matches for their second-best such run of the year. Their 122 combined aces on the season are second in C-USA.

Series History

FAU vs. WKU - The Hilltoppers and Owls have squared off on 27 occasions during FAU's time in Conference USA, and so far the Owls have not yet been able to find a way past a perennially skilled WKU squad. The Hilltoppers are 27-0 all-time against FAU.
