NORFOLK, Va. --Â FAU's opening series in Conference USA with Middle Tennessee State University was postponed last weekend, due to Covid-19 issues in the Blue Raiders' program. Therefore, the Owls will open their Conference USA schedule with a two-game series this weekend at Old Dominion. FAU comes into Friday's 7 p.m. contest with an overall record of 5-4, while the Monarchs are currently 5-3 with a 1-1 record in Conference USA.
Old Dominion and FAU have met on the hardwood a dozen times in the past, with the Monarchs winning nine of those contests to three for the Owls. However, the last meeting was a 66-56 victory for FAU at the Conference USA Championship Tournament this past March.
Jailyn Ingram led the way in that victory with a 22-point output for the Owls in that most recent contest.
FAU is 1-5 overall in road games at Old Dominion. The Owls are 2-2 vs. Old Dominion under head coach
Dusty May and May has two wins and two losses on on his record vs. Monarchs' head coach Jeff Jones.Â
FAU and ODU will play Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. ET at Chartway Arena on the campus of Old Dominion University. The local radio broadcast may be heard on Fox Sports 640 AM and may be
heard online as well.
The game will be

Jailyn Ingram has scored in double digits in six of his last seven outings. He has also hit the 20-point mark in 4 of 9 games this season. Ingram added 10 rebounds at North Florida to record his first double-double of the season and the ninth of his career. He is the most prolific current Owl in the category of double-doubles. Ingram has also joined an exclusive FAU club. In the season-opener, he became just the fourth Owl ever to score 1000 points and grab 500 rebounds.
Kenan Blackshear leads the Owls with 17 steals in 9 games. His average of 1.89 steals per game ranks No. 6 in Conference USA and No. 108 in the nation. Blackshear snagged just 14 steals in 31 games last season. He also ranks No. 3 on the team with 17 assists this season.
Bryan Greenlee has been very giving while playing the point guard position for the Owls. His 25 assists leads the team. Greenlee has 34 field goals for FAU and has assisted on 25, meaning he is directly or indirectly responsible for 59-of-284 field goals this season (20.8 percent).
Taking care of the basketball has become a hallmark of the Owls under
Dusty May. FAU ranked No. 2 in Conference USA in turnover margin last season at 1.81 fewer per game. They have started 2020-21 in similar fashion. FAU averages just 11.3 turnovers. The Owls' turnover margin is +6.0 per game this season. Both of the above averages are No. 2 in C-USA, while the turnover margin average is also No. 12 in the nation.
The Owls open Conference USA action this weekend, facing Old Dominion in Norfolk, Va. This weekend series with the Monarchs wraps up Saturday evening at Chartway Arena.
Following the series with ODU, the Owls will move into rivalry week. FAU will play Florida International University in Miami Thursday night at 7 p.m., while the Panthers will then travel to Boca Ration Saturday afternoon with a 4 p.m. tipoff. These will be the 48th and 49th meetings between the FIU and FAU. It is the most-played series in Owls' history.
FIU holds a 28-19 advantage in the all-time series with FAU. The Owls are 8-16 vs. the Panthers in Miami, while holding an 11-12 record in games at The Burrow.Â
FIU has won the last three meetings. The most recent Owls' victory came on the road, an 89-72 win on Jan. 26, 2019.
