Williams Earns Spot on ASUN All-Decade Team

ATLANTA – Florida Atlantic University women's basketball alumna Shontavia Williams was selected to the Atlantic Sun Conference 2000-09 All-Decade Team, as announced by the league on Friday. Williams, who played at FAU from 2002-06, was one of 17 from the conference chosen for this honor.

The Owls were affiliated with the ASUN from 1993 to 2006. Williams was the 2006 ASUN Tournament MVP, guiding the Owls to their first conference championship and NCAA Division I Tournament appearance. She was a two-time All-ASUN selection, being named to the First Team as a senior and Second Team as a junior, as well as an All-Freshman Team choice.

Williams still holds her crown for the program's career scoring record (1,466), career free throws made (394), career starts (103) and free throws made in a single game (15 against Mercer in 2006). She sits at second in career rebounds (615), second in field goals made in a single game (14 against Lipscomb), third in career field goals (490), fourth in career games played (115) and fifth in career steals (191). Williams is also one of five Owls to belong to the 1,000 point/500 rebound club.

All-Decade Team honorees must have competed for at least two years in the decade as an ASUN student-athlete. Former student-athletes who met one of the following criteria were named to the team: three First Team All-Conference selections, four All-Conference selections, multiple Scholar-Athlete/Player of the Year, 1,500 career points or 1,000 career rebounds. Individuals who earned at least two of the following criteria were also selected to the team: Player/Tournament MVP/Freshman/Defensive Player/Newcomer/Scholar-Athlete of the Year, three All-Conference selections, two First Team All-Conference nods or two All-Tournament Team awards.
