Football’s Desmond Noel Named Preseason All-C-USA

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University senior offensive lineman Desmond Noel was named to the 2020 Conference USA preseason team, as announced by C-USA on Tuesday.
Noel joined the Owls and the Owls' offensive line two weeks into the 2019 campaign. The Fort Scott Community College transfer and Cincinnati, Ohio native made an immediate impact, contributing to FAU's 45-27 win over Charlotte and then as a starter in the next nine games. The Owls would go on to capture the Conference USA and Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl Championships. Noel was part of a line that provided protection for 6,280 yards of offense, made up of 3,956 through the air and 2,324 yards on the ground.
FAU's 2020 offensive line will return experience at every position, one that will be charged with opening the holes for a very deep running back corps while also providing protection for a new starting quarterback and a potentially dynamic group of receivers. All will be under the direction of head coach Willie Taggart as well as co-offensive coordinators Drew Mehringer and Clint Trickett.
PFF preseason All-C-USA honors have also been announced with junior running back Malcolm Davidson earning First Team honors and redshirt sophomore punter Matt Hayball being named to the Second Team.
Davidson lead the 2019 Owls, who accumulated more than 2,300 yards on the ground, with 711 yards. He is one of four returning backs that had more than 230 yards.
Hayball is also on the 2020 Ray Guy Award watch list after his freshman performance.
