BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team was poised to challenge for the league's title in 2020, a season that ended abruptly; however not before posting an 8-3 dual match record and building impressive court résumés. In total, four Owls earned All-Conference honors with Radka Buzkova leading the charge as a First Team All C-USA selection and as the 2020 C-USA Freshman of the Year.
Natalie Kallmunzerova also found herself recognized as one of the best C-USA singles players with Second Team honors, repeating the same 2019 honor. The doubles combination of Martina Kudelova and May Kimhi were named Second Team as well.
Buzkova being named the 2020 C-USA Freshman of the Year is the second consecutive year an Owl has garnered that recognition: Kudelova in 2018-19 and Buzkova in 2019-20. The duo handled courts one and two in 2020 and are expected to return to battle for the top spot in 2021.
Buzkova joined the Owls in the Fall as a true freshman and quickly began playing in the more prominent Fall tournaments. She tallied a 7-4 tournament record, including victories over opponents from Nebraska, Florida and USF. As the squad moved into Spring competition, Buzkova tallied a 6-3 dual match record before the season abruptly ended. She began the year for the Owls, who were climbing the national ranks, at No. 4 where she was 1-0. Buzkova then moved to No. 3 where she was 2-1 and had a short stint at No. 2 where she was 1-1 before moving up once again to court No. 1 where she finished the season and posted a 2-1 record. On the doubles court, Buzkova was 12-5 on the year with a 7-1 tournament mark and was 1-0 in conference doubles play.
Natalie Kallmunzerova, Jr., Prague, Czech Republic, Second Team All-C-USA
In a shortened season, Kallmunzerova tallied a 10-0 record. During her sophomore season (2018-19), her rallies were long and her matches were long, as many moved into the third set ultimately to end unfinished. The 2018-19 Second Team C-USA selection returned for her junior campaign (2019-20) with a focus of finishing. Kallmunzerova did so in perfect fashion with a 10-0 dual match record. She was 2-0 at No. 4, 2-0 at position No. 6 and 6-0 playing No. 5. Each of her 10 matches were two-set victories. Kallmunzerova's drive and quiet focus was inspirational to the team, seeing her score go on the board often as the first completed. She was 4-3 in doubles play on the year, including 4-2 in dual match doubles.
Martina Kudelova, So., Knezpole, Czech Republic/May Kimhi, So., Shoam, Israel, Second Team All-C-USA Doubles
Kudelova played both No. 1 and No. 2 singles but, the returning C-USA Freshman of the Year saw some of her best work coming on the doubles' courts. She was 10-3 on the year, including a 7-1 dual match record, playing with four partners. The final pairing of Kudelova and May Kimhi proved perfect with a 3-0 record in the final three matches of the season.

Coach's Comments
"My players are so deserving of these awards," said Caroline Wheelen, FAU head coach. "These players compete with heart and soul. I'm a firm believer in you get what you give. There is a correlation with those players that give 100% in all areas of their college career on and off the court. They go to bed at night knowing they gave their all to FAU and that gives them confidence."Honoree Resumes
