BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University junior Jailyn Ingram scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in an 80-71 win over UTSA on Thursday night. Ingram became the newest FAU men's basketball player to score 1,000 career points. The historic bucket came with 1:22 remaining in the game.
The Owls (16-13, 8-8 Conference USA) hit six 3-pointers in the game's first 11 and a half minutes, taking a 28-6 lead. FAU hit nine triples in the first half and held a 43-25 advantage at the break.
UTSA (12-16, 6-9) steadily chipped away at the deficit, led by Jhivvan Jackson, but were never able to fully seize momentum as the Owls made key baskets to keep the Roadrunners at bay. The margin was nine, 78-69, before Ingram made his milestone basket. Ingram was fouled on the play and hit the free throw to complete the three-point play and end any hopes of a UTSA comeback.
