BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team (11-13, 5-8 C-USA) looks to go 2-0 against FIU (5-19, 2-11 C-USA) on Thursday. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
About the Owls
- FAU looks to keep the momentum rolling following a 77-75 feat over Louisiana Tech last Saturday
- Thursday's game is the third of four straight home game for FAU
- The Owls are tied for ninth in the Conference USA standings
- Crystal Primm leads the team with 15.8 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per game
- Lotta Vehka-Aho follows with 12.6 points per game and leads the team in assists (62) and steals (39)
- Juliette Gauthier is the third Owl averaging double digits in scoring with 10.8 points and pulls down 7.2 boards per game
- Astou Gaye averages 9.7 points and 6.1 boards per game, while leading the team with 23 blocks
Last Time Out
- FAU took down Louisiana Tech in dramatic fashion, 77-75 thanks to a go-ahead basket by Gauthier. Primm also delivered a huge block as time expired, as LA Tech was unable to get the game-tying shot up
- The win allowed the Owls to jump ahead of the Lady Techsters in the C-USA standings
- Primm led all scorers with 23 points along with seven rebounds
- Vehka-Aho followed with 22 points to capture her fourth 20+ point game
- Gaye was shy of a double-double with 16 points and a game-leading nine rebounds
- Tanyia Gordon had a huge game off the bench with 10 points and six boards
- The Owls shot a season-high 52.8 percent from the field and scored 30 points in the third quarter, which matched a school record

- FIU was chosen to finish 14th in the C-USA Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches
- Jiselle Thomas is the team's leading scorer with 11.0 points per game along with a team's best 29 steals
- Chelsea Guimaraes averages 9.7 points per game and leads the team in rebounds with 7.3 boards per game and 26 blocks on the year
- Bre'Osha Scott leads the team in assists with 52
History Against the Panthers
- The FAU vs. FIU rivalry dates back to 1985, as the Panthers hold a 14-32 edge over the Owls
- FAU lost 21 of the first 22 games in the series starting in the 80s, but has made a push as of late, winning seven of the last 11
- On Feb. 8, the Owls beat FIU 64-61 in overtime to help Jim Jabir achieve his 500th career victory. The program also earned its 300th Division I win. Primm captured 21 points and a career-high 14 rebounds, while Glenisha Harkless tallied 12 points. Gaye had 10 points, eight boards and four blocks and Vehka-Aho logged 10 points
- Last year FAU played FIU at home, the Owls won, 77-55. Gauthier tallied her first career double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Amber Gaston was shy of a double-double with 16 points and nine boards
