BOCA RATON --Â The Owls evened their record at 2-2 with a record-breaking performance against Florida National Thursday night at FAU Arena. It was the first time FAU has appeared at The Burrow this season and it was memorable.
The Owls defeated the Conquistadors 128-64, setting school records for points in a game, points in a half, field goals made and 3-point field goals made. They also set numerous FAU Arena records in the dismantling of Florida National.
Jailyn Ingram led the way against FNU, scoring 26 points in just over 15 minutes of action. He was 7-of-8 from 3-point range.
Alijah Martin came off the bench to add 21 points, a career-high for the freshman playing in just his fourth collegiate game.
Michael Forrest added a7 off the bench, hitting five 3-pointers.
UNF is 0-5 after dropping its road contest at High Point Saturday by a tally of 85-74.
The Owls will be looking for their first true road victory of the season and their first win over an NCAA Division I opponent.
FAU ranks No. 1 in Conference USA and No. 4 in the nation in 3-point field goals per game, after making 24 vs. Florida National last week. The Owls are No. 2 in C-USA and No. 12 nationally in 3-point field goal attempts, hoisting up 130 in just four games.
The Owls are among the conference and national leaders in a number of defensive statistical categories.Â
FAU is No. 1 in C-USA and No. 15 in the nation in blocked shots (20). They are No. 2 in C-USA and No. 21 in Division I in total steals (37). FAU is also ranked No. 2 in the league and 32nd in the nation in scoring defense (58.2 ppg). The Owls are No. 2 in C-USA in field-goal percentage defense and No. 38 in the nation (36.5%).
Bryan Greenlee made 7 3-pointers in his Owl debut and has since added six more.
Jailyn Ingram hit 7 of his own in FAU's last outing. Both Ingram and Greenlee have been efficient from behind the arc as well.Â
Greenlee ranks No. 2 in C-USA and No. 18 in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage, knocking down triples at a rate of .632 (12-of-19). Ingram isn't far behind. He ranks No. 3 in C-USA and No. 37 in the nation with a percentage of .556 (10-of-18).
The Owls continue their four-game road swing Saturday at North Carolina State.
North Carolina State is currently 3-0 and has a Wednesday game vs. Michigan scheduled as part of the Big Ten-ACC Challenge. The Wolfpack was unable to play its scheduled Dec. 5 game vs. Connecticut due to Covid-19 issues.
The Owls and Wolfpack have faced off twice, back in the mid-1990s. Each team has won one of those two previous meetings.
