BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team (1-2) seeks to get back in the winning column, as the Owls wrap up its four-game non-conference slate against Florida Memorial (3-4) on Friday night. Tipoff against the Lions is set for 5 p.m. at Abessinio Court at FAU Arena.

- FAU seeks to bounce back following back-to-back losses against Power 5 opponents. The Owls hung tough in both contests, but could not pull off upsets at Miami (73-61) and Florida (88-76)
- Jim Jabir captured his first season-opening win at FAU on Nov. 30 when the Owls took down North Florida, 93-81. The Owls claimed that victory behind all five starters scoring double digits, while reaching 90+ points for the first time since 2018
- Head coach Jabir is in his fourth season at the helm with his 2020-21 team being made up of 13 returners and four newcomers. Out of the 13 returners, four of those Owls were everyday starters during the 2019-20 season
- Iggy Allen leads the team with 21.7 points per game, which is the third most in Conference USA and 30th best in the NCAA. She also averages 8.7 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 2.7 assists per game. Allie Tylka follows with 11.0 points per game
- Janeta Rozentale is the team's leader in rebounding (9.0 RPG) and blocks (2.0 BPG), while Alexa Zaph leads the charge in assists with 10 dimes

- The 20th meeting between FAU and FMU will occur on Friday night
- FAU has an 18-1 advantage over the Lions
- The last time the Owls and Lions squared off was in November of 2016, when FAU won 84-64 at home
- FAU's lone loss came in 1988 with a 77-66 defeat at FMU
- The Owls will look to defend their home court advantage against the Lions with an 11-0 record at home. FAU is 7-1 on the road vs. FMU

- FMU was projected to finish fifth in the 2020-21 Sun Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll
- Junior Keaynna Tolbert was listed by the Sun Conference as a player to watch, after transferring from Prairie View A&M. Tolbert leads the Lions with 22.3 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game. She also has seven blocks and 20 steals
- Jamari Tilman also averages double digits in scoring with 14.3 points per game
- Chantel Barnett leads the team in assists with 2.3 assists per game

- Four Owls dropped double digits in scoring in FAU's loss at Florida, 88-76
- Allen tallied a career-high 24 points and nine rebounds, along with three assists and two steals
- Rozentale earned her first career double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds along with two blocks
- Tylka scored 12 points off the bench
- Tanyia Gordon was the fourth Owl in double digits, earning 10 points and five rebounds, as well as a block and steal
- The Owls outshot the Gators, 43 percent to UF's 42

FAU will commence C-USA play at Middle Tennessee on Friday, Jan. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Murphy Center in Murfreesboro. The two-day series will wrap up on Saturday with a 5 p.m. tipoff. FAU's home C-USA opener will take place on Friday Jan. 8 at 5 p.m. against Old Dominion. Tickets may be purchasedÂ
