MOBILE, Ala. --Â FAU lost a heart-breaker in its season-opener Wednesday, falling to South Alabama 68-66 when the Jaguars' Michael Flowers hit a wild, falling-out-of-bounds 3-pointer with one second remaining. The Owls then dropped a 60-50 decision to Jacksonville State University Friday at the Herman and Goldie Ungar Memorial Tournament at the Mitchell Center on the campus of the University of South Alabama.
FAU will look to pick up its first victory of the season, when they wrap up play in Mobile facing the hometown University of Mobile. The Rams are 4-2 on the season, but their record won't change after this game. For the NAIA squad, a contest against an NCAA Division I member will be an exhibition, while it will count toward the overall record of the Owls.
FAU and Mobile have never squared off on the hardwood. This will be the final neutral site game of the season for the Owls until the Conference USA Championships in March at The Star in Frisco, Texas.

Jailyn Ingram finished with six rebounds Wednesday vs. South Alabama. His second made him the fourth Owl ever to score 1,000 points and also grab 500 rebounds. Ingram currently ranks No. 9 on the all-time FAU scoring chart with 1,073 points scored. He is 80 points shy of moving up to No. 8. Ingram is also No. 8 on the all-time rebounding chart with 509 boards. He is just five rebounds away from moving up to No. 7.Â

FAU ranked No. 2 in Conference USA in turnover margin last season. The Owls averaged 1.81 fewer turnovers than their opponents in 2019-20. They have started off 2020-21 in similar fashion. FAU average just 12.5 turnovers through the first two games. The Owls' turnover margin is +9 overall and +4.5 per game this season, as both opponents have committed 17 giveaways.

Following the Goldie and Herman Ungar Memorial Tournament in Mobile, Ala., the Owls will head back to Boca Raton for the home opener on Thursday, Dec. 3.
FAU will host Florida National College at The Burrow in the first home game of the season. Florida National is 2-5 on the season. Their most recent outing was a 97-65 exhibition loss at Georgia Southern Wednesday. The Conquistadors have scored 90 points or more in five of their seven regular season games this season.Â
