Season Opening Video Preview

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team will open the 2020 dual match season by playing host to Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday at 11 a.m. The two teams will meet at the FAU Tennis Complex. FGCU will have already played four matches, and hold a 1-2 record prior to a match scheduled for Saturday versus FIU.

FAU is led by Martina Kudelova, who ended her freshman campaign with a No. 51 collegiate rank and climbed as high as No. 318 in the world last fall. She currently is ranked No. 355.

Kudelova is joined by three returners: Natalia Boltinskaya, Natalie Kallmunzerova and May Kimhi. The quartet will be joined by newcomers Radka Buzkova, Karin Kozlejova, Louie McLelland and Lauren Randle. Each of the newcomers saw individual tournament action in the fall and are ready to build up the Owls' No. 3 seed in the 2019 Conference USA tournament.

The team will be led by newly elevated Caroline Wheelen, who served as the team's assistant coach since 2016 and was previously FAU's head women's coach from 2001-03. During that span she tallied a 45-23 record and led the Owls to a quarterfinal finish and a 2003 Atlantic Sun Championship and NCAA postseason appearance.
