– The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's swimming & diving will kick off the 2019-20 season on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. against Florida. The meet will take place at FAU Aquatic and admission is free to the public.

This is the second consecutive year FAU has opened up their season against the Gators at home. At last season's meet, the Owls tallied nine top three finishes.
Spence Atkins opened up her junior season by taking second in the 1000 freestyle (10:17.10) and third in the 200 butterfly (2:03.10) and in her first meet as an Owl,
Fatimah Westbrook dominated in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.66) with a first-place title. On the men's side, third-place finishes were earned by
Will Smith in the 1000 freestyle (9:35.22) and
Connor Smoak in the 100 freestyle (46.75). On the boards,
Logan Downey took first in the 1-meter (306.00) and second in the 3-meter (278.02).

The swimming & diving team is coming off a successful 2018-19 campaign. On the men's side, the team finished as the runner-up at the 2019 Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Championships, which became the best finish for the Owls in 19 years. Also at the championships, the team racked up 10 podium finishes and 22 different Owls completed personal best times and scores.
Josh Fountain set a new school record in the 1650 freestyle with an NCAA B-cut time of 15:23.58.

The women's team finished fifth place at the 2019 Conference USA Championships. FAU had six top-five and 17 top-10 finishes, and 13 different Owls attained personal best times or scores. After winning two events at the 2018 C-USA Championships, Atkins picked up where she left off, finishing with a bronze medal in the 1650 freestyle.

On the boards,
Malvina Catalano and Downey qualified for the Zone B Diving Championships. Catalano represented FAU on both boards, placing 20th in the 3-meter and 21st in the 1-meter.
