BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University softball player
Jolie Duffner has received a spot on the 2019 Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District IV First Team. Duffner becomes the first FAU softball player since Blair Bodenmiller, who was a three-time selection from 2008-2010, to receive CoSIDA All-Academic marks.
Â
As a first-team district honoree, Duffner advances to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot with first-, second- and third-team honorees being announced on June 6. Bodenmiller is the Owls' only Academic All-America selection, as a second-team choice in 2010.
Â
A health science major with the aspiration of going to medical school, Duffner was recently recognized to C-USA Softball All-Academic Team. Duffner is a recipient of the C-USA Commissioner's Academic medal and a member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. The Jefferson City, Missouri native is a two-time Dean's List honoree and received a 4.0 with President's List honors her first season on the team in 2018 as a sophomore transfer. Even with a challenging course load and busy schedule, Duffner maintains a cumulative 3.989 GPA.
Â
Duffner also greatly excels on the field as the Owls' everyday third baseman. The redshirt junior started in each of the Owls' 50 games this season with a .259 batting average, 14 RBI, 11 runs scored and two doubles and triples a piece. Duffner finished the season 10th in the league in assists with 95.
Â
The Owls will be back in 2020 to celebrate the 26th season of the program under direction of head coach
Joan Joyce. FAU will be returning five starters, including Duffner. For offseason news and other important FAU softball updates, follow along on TwitterÂ
