Women’s Tennis Prepares for C-USA First Round Opponent, WKU

The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team enters the 2019 Conference USA Championship as the No. 3 seed and will face No. 14 seed WKU in the opening round on Thursday, April 18 at 1 p.m. Eastern. Tournament seeds are based on the latest ITA rankings.

The tournament, hosted by Rice at the George R. Brown Tennis Center in Houston, can be followed via in-game scoring and live stream HERE.

The format will feature 14 C-USA teams. With a win on Thursday, FAU would advance for the second consecutive year to the C-USA quarterfinals and would play the winner of the Charlotte (No. 6) and Marshall (No. 11) match on Friday at 3 p.m. Eastern. The tournament is scheduled for April 18-21.

"Being the third seed for the C-USA Championship is an accomplishment because all of the teams are strong," said Cava. "We pride ourselves on respecting our opponents, no matter what seed and give each match 100%. We started off slow this season for multiple reasons, but this team has come a long way in just a few months, with four of six players only being at FAU for three months. All of us have risen above many hurdles this semester, but we wouldn't have it any other way. The hurdles made us stronger and brought us together."

FAU is led by freshman Martina Kudelova, from Knezpole Czech Republic. Kudelova is currently ranked No. 86 nationally and holds an 11-4 overall record and a 10-4 dual match singles record. She is expected to face WKU's Laura Bernardos, who is 1-9 in the No. 1 position.
