Grant, Silva and Zagerman Receive Players of the Week Honors

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University athletics has recognized beach volleyball's Nicole Grant and Amanda Silva and men's golfer Sully Zagerman as players of the week.

Silva and Grant went 4-0 against stiff competition at this past weekend's FIU Surf N' Turk Invitational. On Friday, the tandem outlasted the No. 3 duo from No. 20 TCU in the first set, 22-20, before steamrolling to a 21-5 win in the second set. In their second match against (RV) Tulane, the duo won the deciding third set, 16-14, to seal the win for FAU. On Saturday, the duo took wins over the No. 3 pair from No. 16 Grand Canyon and No. 4 LSU in the No. 2 slot. Overall, Silva and Grant went 4-0 and defeated pairs from three ranked teams. The duo has a 15-4 record, which is tied for best on the team. Grant now has 65 career wins, which is six shy of setting the school record for most wins by a single player.

Zagerman was the top Owl with a third-place individual finish at the FAU Spring Championship at Osprey Point Golf Course over the weekend. The senior topped off his impressive weekend with a 66 on Sunday to conclude 11-under overall, which is a career-low single round score. Zagerman carded 205 at the tournament, which is tied for the third lowest player score through 54 holes in program history and tied for sixth in the tournament's 11-year history. Overall, the Owls finished 26-under with a total score of 838, which is the lowest 54-hole total in FAU history. The Owls carded 268-279-273-838 to claim second place overall in the tournament.

Beach Volleyball heads over to Tallahassee, Florida over the weekend for the FSU Invitational, where they will face Florida State and Georgia State on Friday and FIU on Saturday. The Owls will be back home for one last time this season at the Beach Bash in Paradise Tournament on April 12 to face Stetson at 10 a.m. and FIU at 2 p.m. Admission is free.

Men's golf has three weeks to prepare for the Conference USA Championship, which will be held from April 24 to 26 in Texarkana, Arkansas.
