Olson, Ruff Achieve Players of the Week Honors

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University athletic department has awarded softball's Mia Olson and baseball's Mike Ruff with Players of the Week honors. This is the first award for both student-athletes this season.

Olson has continued to heat up the plate for the Owls. The senior delivered a solo home run in the first of three games against UAB this weekend, which marked the 18thof her career to move her to sixth in FAU program history in career home runs. On Sunday, Olson captured two RBI doubles to elevate the Owls to a 7-3 victory over the Blazers. Olson now has nine multi-hit games on the season, just shy of last season's total. The Orlando, Florida native is leading the team offensively, batting .356 (.412 in conference play) with 31 hits, six doubles, 25 RBI and seven home runs.

Mike Ruff picked up the middle victory in baseball's three-game series at UAB. The junior righthander scattered four hits over six inning, allowing only one run in the Owls' 6-2 win over the Blazers on Saturday. Ruff struck out seven Blazers and moved to 3-0 on the season, with each of those wins coming in his last four games.

Softball will hit the road this weekend to face WKU in a three-game series. The Owls will commence the series with a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. and will close out play on Sunday at 2 p.m. Live stats can be accessed here and the live stream can be viewed here. Olson and the team will be back at FAU Softball Stadium on April 6 to face C-USA rival FIU for a three-game series.
