BOCA RATON, Fla. – Andy Seeley, a 22-year veteran of communications and external strategy in collegiate athletics, has joined Florida Atlantic University as senior associate athletics director for external relations. The hire was announced Tuesday by
Brian White, FAU's vice president and director of athletics.
Seeley will lead the Owls' athletics communications and marketing units, while overseeing the relationship with Florida Atlantic Sports Properties, the multimedia rights holder for the Owls. He will also work closely with FAU's development and ticket sales/operations staffs, which are under the direction of deputy director of athletics Ryan Alpert. In addition, Seeley will have supervision of a number of FAU's sports programs.
"We're excited to have a veteran professional with Andy's experience directing our external efforts," said White. "He has hit the ground running here in Paradise and is already making a positive impact for us. We're looking forward to continued growth in these areas under Andy's leadership."
Seeley comes to FAU from the Mountain West Conference where he served as associate commissioner for external communications strategy. With the MW, he was responsible for developing and implementing strategies to ensure the continued success of the league, leading the creation and execution of the recently-launched MW brand campaign, as well as day-to-day direction for the league's strategic communications, digital/social media and the Mountain West Network units.
No stranger to Florida, Seeley recently served as associate director of athletics for strategic communications at UCF (2012-19). While with the Knights, he led communications, public relations and brand management functions for the 16-sport NCAA Division I program.
Seeley also served as President of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) in 2016-17. His service to the CoSIDA was part of a five-year stint in the officer rotation on the Board of Directors.
Seeley also has experience in the athletics communications offices at the University of Minnesota (2008-12), the University of Utah (2004-08) and his alma mater, Northwest Missouri State University (1997-2004). He started his communications career working for USA Roller Sports (1994-97). Seeley is a 1994 graduate of Northwest Missouri State University.
