BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team saw their run at the 2019 ITA Southeast Regional Championship come to an end, as well as their 2019 fall season, on Sunday.
Â
"The five players that made it to regionals showed grit and maturity on and off the court," said head coach
Caroline Wheelen. "We were so successful because because of the leadership that captain (Natalia) Boltinskaya brings on a daily basis."
As the fall season comes to a close, what are your thoughts on a few of the newcomers?
"(Radka) Buzkova just two months into her freshman year is creating a stir in the tennis community with her relentless mental strength and smarts. She never let's anyone breath. She is always attacking. And, I'm very impressed with transfer (Louie) McLelland, who shows such hardcore competitiveness. She has developed into a top force on this team."
What did you notice about the Fall season, especially since you didn't really have that opportunity a year ago?
"Our doubles teams improved so much in just two weeks of dedicated practice. I'm excited to see how they progress in the future. It would be great to dominate doubles in dual matches, but it will take hard work which this team enjoys."
