Kudelova, Shiver Chosen as FAU Players of the Week

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University athletic department has named Martina Kudelova of women's tennis and Lachlan Shiver of men's cross country as student-athletes of the week.
Kudelova had a productive weekend at the 2019 ITQ Southeast Regional Championship hosted by Florida State. The Knezpole, Czech Republic native defeated Florida's Sydney Berlin 6-1, 6-4 in the round of 32 to advance to the sweet 16, where she went on to defeat Florida State's Mira Stegmann by a score of 6-4, 7-6(1). On Sunday, the sophomore pulled out a quarterfinal victory over No. 31 Vivian Wolff from Georgia (6-3, 5-7, 6-4).
Just as he got off a record-breaking performance three weeks ago at the UCF Invitational, Shiver was back at it again. At the Blazer Invitational hosted by UAB, the senior broke the FAU men's 8K record once again with a time of 24:54.54. His time also became the first sub-25 minute 8K time in FAU history, finishing 28th out of 179 runners on the course.
Women's tennis will close out their fall slate with a trip to the West Coast at the Oracle Fall Championship. The tournament will be held from Wednesday, Nov. 6 to Sunday, Nov. 10 in Newport, California.
Cross country is gearing up for postseason with Conference USA Championships coming up on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 10 a.m. in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
