FAU Women’s Basketball Completes 2019-20 With Announcement of Non-Conference Schedule

Owls will take on three NCAA Tournament teams from a season ago and two first-time opponents.
BOCA RATON, Fla.– Florida Atlantic University women's basketball head coach Jim Jabir has announced his team's non-conference schedule for the upcoming season. It includes seven home games for the Owls between November and December, with 16 overall games on Abessinio Court at FAU Arena.
"This season has been put together to challenge our very young team and to also get them ready for the challenges of C-USA," said Jabir. "We have good talent with great character and they need to be seasoned and must improve. There is momentum this year. I can feel it every day in practice. We are on the right course and nothing would quicken this process more than to have a bunch of people in The Burrow. We hope you will join us for what I hope will be a great year."
Overall, FAU will take on three NCAA Tournament teams from a season ago and two first-time opponents.
The Owls open up the 2019-20 season at Iowa on November 7. The Hawkeyes advanced to the Elite 8 in last season's NCAA Tournament, falling to eventual-champion Baylor. The Owls then have a two-game road trip in Virginia against Hampton (November 14) and Richmond (November 16).
FAU's home opener will be on November 19 against Siena. The Owls will have a quick turnaround, facing reigning Sun Belt champions Little Rock on November 21 at FAU Arena. Little Rock advanced to last season's NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row. FAU will hit the road again to take on Western Michigan on November 24.
The 12th installment of the FAU Thanksgiving Tournament will take place November 29 and 30 at FAU Arena. The Owls will face Loyola Maryland in the first round with Kansas and Wright State on the other side of the bracket.
The Owls will play all of their games in December in the friendly confines of FAU Arena. After a two-week break, FAU will take on Central Connecticut State on December 15. Then to close out the non-conference slate and 2019, FAU will host the FAU Holiday Classic on Dec. 20. The Owl's will face Furman in the first round. Harvard and St. Joe's will square off on the same day.
