BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University's 2019 Conference USA football schedule has been released, as announced by the league office on Thursday. The Owls' home schedule will feature three games versus C-USA teams that participated in 2018 bowls and four home games against bowl opponents. In total, the Owls will face five opponents who participated in bowls in 2018.
The first C-USA matchup for the Owls will see FAU travel to Charlotte on Sept. 28 to face the 49ers. That matchup features two teams that ended 2018 on Howard Schnellenberger Field at FAU Stadium.
FAU is scheduled to have a bye week on Oct. 5 and will pick up again the following weekend, when the team plays host to Middle Tennessee in the C-USA home opener on Oct. 12. The Owls will remain at home and host Marshall on Oct. 19.
The squad then returns to the road for back-to-back away contests. The first is on Oct. 26 at Old Dominion, in Norfolk, Virginia, and the second is in Bowling Green, Kentucky where they will face WKU on Nov. 2.
Nov. 9 will be Shula Bowl XVIII versus FIU, with FAU serving as host. A second bye week falls on Nov. 16, and the next week, the Owls will travel to San Antonio, Texas to face the UTSA Roadrunners for the first time in program history. FAU will round out the 2019 schedule at home Nov. 30 versus Southern Miss.
FAU's 2019 non-conference schedule features a road matchup to start the campaign on Aug. 31 at Ohio State, who went 13-1 in 2018, followed by the home opener against UCF on Sept. 7. The Knights finished this past season with a 12-1 record, making for a two-year mark of 25-1. UCF will be one of four 2018 bowl teams to play at FAU Stadium this fall, along with Middle Tennessee, Marshall and FIU.
