Four Owls Named to the NFCA All-Region Team

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University softball team had four players named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-South Region team on Thursday. It marks the third season in a row that the Owls have had multiple players make the All-Region team.
Emily Lochten made the first team as a shortstop for the second year in a row. Lochten held a .363 batting average and led the team with 14 home runs, making the All-Conference USA First Team for a third consecutive year. The Lake Worth native had 35 RBI and 23 doubles. Lochten also led the Owls in runs scored (59), a career-high for the senior.
Madisyn Palmer was named to the second team. Palmer led the Owls with a .387 batting average, making the All-Conference USA First Team for a second time. Palmer recorded four doubles and a home run while scoring 46 runs, the second-most on the team.
Mia Olson also made the All-Region second team, as a utility/pitcher. In the circle, Olson recorded a 9-7 record with a 2.64 ERA. At the plate, she finished third on the team with a .295 average and was second on the squad with six homeruns.
Tatum Buckley made the third team as a utility/pitcher, marking the third consecutive season she has been named All-Region. Buckley was the Owls' no. 1 pitcher all season, going 16-11 on the year with a 2.25 ERA, making the All-Conference USA Second Team. She finished her FAU career among the program's all-time leaders in lowest opponent batting average and fewest walks per seven innings. Offensively, she led the team with 39 RBI, and is in FAU's top-10 in career doubles, walks and RBI.
The All-Region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, and all honorees are eligible for the NFCA All-American teams, which will be announced on May 30. The entire all-region team can be found on NFCA.org.
