Devin Singletary, Reggie Bain and Harrison Bryant were voted as First Team All-Conference USA selections, among 10 total nods earned by Florida Atlantic University football players on Tuesday.
Â
Singletary was bestowed First Team honors after leading the league in rushing yards (1,348), rushing yards per game (112.3), scoring per game (11.0) and rushing and total touchdowns (22). In those same categories nationally, he is listed No. 10, No. 11, No. 3, No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. Bain, who started every game in his four-year career (2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018) led an offensive line that was ranked No. 14 nationally allowing just 1.17 sacks per game and blocked for a rushing attack that also was No. 14 in rushing yards. In 2018 he held a grade of 90 percent and recorded 31 knockdowns while allowing just two sacks. Tight end Bryant completed the trio of First Team selections, starting each of the team's 12 games. The Gray, Georgia native ended his junior campaign second on the team with 45 receptions for 662 yards and added four touchdowns. Bryant lead all C-USA tight ends in receiving yards and was listed No. 13 among all league receivers in average yards per game, while placing No. 11 in total yards.
Â
Senior defensive back Jalen Young received Second Team recognition while redshirt junior Kerrith Whyte, Jr. earned honors on two different teams. He was a Second Team All-Conference selection at kick returner and was an Honorable Mention selection at running back.
Â
Young, who was a C-USA postseason honoree in each of his four seasons at FAU, ended his senior campaign second on the team with 59 tackles, and he added 2.5 tackles for a loss, including one sack, and grabbed one interception to conclude his career with 13, tops among all active FBS players. Whyte became the first Owl to record a kick return for a score in 2017 and repeated that feat in 2018. He was ranked No. 6 nationally in kick returns for a TD and No. 3 nationally in kickoff returns yards per attempt (28.7). His running back numbers are just as impressive, earning him an Honorable Mention spot. Whyte tallied 866 rushing yards, recorded 11 touchdowns (8 rushing, 2 receiving and 1 kick return) and led all C-USA players with 1,571 all-purpose yards in 2018.
Â
Joining Whyte as C-USA Honorable Mention selections were teammates Brandon Walton (OL), Jovon Durante (WR), Rashad Smith (LB) and Shelton Lewis (DB), making for 10 nods for nine different Owls.
