BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team will open the 2018-19 season on Wednesday, November 7 against Hampton. The game is set for an 11 a.m. tip-off at FAU Arena.

ABOUT THE GAME
- FAU will host Hampton to open the 2018-19 season on November 7 at 11 a.m. in the friendly confines of FAU Arena.
- As part of an 'Education Game', FAU will be hosting over 800 students from AD Henderson School in FAU Arena to watch the game.
- Both teams will come into the game with a new look. FAU welcomes nine newcomers for the upcoming season, while Hampton will feature 10 new faces.
OWL UPDATES
- FAU was picked to finish ninth in Conference USA in the preseason coaches poll.
- The Owls bring back five returners from last season, including starters Danneal Ford and Ra'Kyra Gabriel, and welcome nine newcomers. Eight of the newcomers are true freshmen and Myka Johnson Matthews will take the court after sitting out last season due to NCAA transfer rules.
SERIES HISTORY
- FAU and Hampton have squared off twice in series history with the Owls claiming victory in both matchups.
- The first game in the series came in 1989 at the Hampton Tournament. FAU won, 86-82.
- They played again in 1995 in Boca Raton and the Owls won that one, 74-55.
SCOUTING HAMPTON
- Hampton was picked to finish fourth in the Big South after finishing 2017-18 as the regular season champions.
- K'lynn Willis was a Preseason All-Big South First Team pick coming into the season. She averaged 9.1 points, 3.7 assists and 50 steals last season.
FAU IN SEASON OPENERS
- FAU is 14-20 overall in season openers and 23-11 in home openers.
- The Owls have won two of their last three season openers and nine of their last 10 home openers.
AGE IS JUST A NUMBER
- FAU will have eight true freshmen heading into the 2018-19 season, tied for the most in the nation.
- At the beginning of the season, FAU had an average age of 19.5, which ranked as the 12th lowest in the country.
