BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team lost a hard fought game to Old Dominion 73-62 on Saturday night. The loss dropped the Owls 9-10 overall and 3-4 in Conference USA play.
The Start
Old Dominion steadily built its lead up in the first half, and held a 12-point cushion, 34-22, with 3:35 to go. FAU trimmed the margin to seven at the break, 34-27.
The Turning Point
Gerdarius Troutman hit a jumper to cut the Owls' deficit to two, 46-44, with 12:42 left in the game. It was the third time in the half that FAU pulled to within a bucket. The Monarchs (15-4, 5-1) scored 12 unanswered points to go up 58-44. The Owls didn't closer than 11 points the rest of the way.
