JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball team swept a pair of matches from Jacksonville University on Thursday. The Owls (4-2) won both matches 5-0 and only lost one set in each match.
Match 1
Sam Gott and Maja Ristic won their exhibition match in straight sets. Nicole Grant and Nicole Navarro had to fight off a pesky JU duo at no. 4, but held on 24-22 in the second set to win their match . Over at no. 5, Ashlan Cunningham and Julia Lewkowicz cruised to an easy win. Jessalyn Kinlaw and Megan Rice swept their match at no. 1, but had to withstand a Dolphin rally in set number two. Gabrielle Dischler and Candace Lacour had a fairly easy time, dispatching JU's no. 3 duo 21-9, 21-18. Brittany Pellitteri and Jazmine Barker overcame a 21-16 loss in the first set to force a third set, winning that frame 21-16, allowing the Owls to complete the sweep.

Match 2
Cunningham and Carly Scarborough won a hard fought match in straight sets on the exhibition court. Lewkowicz and Ristic won their match at no. 5. Grant and Navarro powered their way to a 21-16, 22-20 win on the no. 4 court. At no. 2, Pellitteri and Barker won in straight sets. Dischler and Lacour won at no. 3. Rice and Kinlaw won the first set on the no. 1 court, before losing the second set and rallying to win the third 15-11.
