BATON ROUGE, LA - Florida Atlantic University's softball team fell twice on day two of the LSU Invitational. The Owls fell 2-1 to Illinois State 2-1 and then 4-1 to an undefeated Minnesota in the nightcap.

Game 1 Highlights

Emily Lochten went 2-for-3 and had a homer
Mia Olson and Delaney Rickey each added a hit
Olson drew the start and pitched six complete. She struck out two, walked three and gave up six hits. Both runs were earned. Olson fell to 3-1.

Key Plays
Lochten moved from the lead-off spot to No. two in the Owls line-up but the switch made no difference in her game with a solo shot to center field in the opening inning. It was her 10th homer through 17 games of the 2017 season while the junior belted 14 a year ago. Illinois State also scored a run in the first inning and the two teams held a 1-1 game through five complete. The Red Birds pushed across the game winner in the bottom of the sixth a run the Owls couldn't counter in the seventh.

Game 2 Highlights

Delaney Rickey added a hit
Madisyn Palmer brought in the one and only run of the game
Amanda Wilson started for the Owls and battled through 5.0 innings before giving way to Tatum Buckley. Wilson gave up four runs, and five hits. Buckley pitched 1.0 hitless inning but gave up a walk. Wilson moved to 4-4.

Key Plays
The Owls lone run in the 4-1 Minnesota final came in the first inning from Palmer. Minnesota got out of multiple jams by stranding 4 FAU bases runners.
