BOCA RATON, Fla. -
Softball's Delaney Rickey and men's tennis' Remi Chancerel played key roles in securing multiple wins for their teams last week. Their performances earned them the title of FAU Players of the Week.
Chancerel continued his eight-match singles win streak and improved to 15-2 on the season in No. 2 singles after a 4-0 week. Chancerel also won three of his four doubles matches with partner Andrei Morin-Kougoucheff to anchor the FAU squad that now sits at 15-5 on the season. Twelve of the junior's 15 singles wins have come in straight sets, including each of the eight in his win streak. His wins at Old Dominion helped anchor the FAU lineup that beat the No. 39 Monarchs 4-2 on the road last week.
Rickey followed up an impressive first weekend of conference play at the plate with an even better one last weekend. The senior singled and drove in a run in the opener against Charlotte. In the nightcap, she went 4-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. On Sunday, she went 2-for-3, stole a base and scored twice. For the week, she hit .636 with three RBI and three runs scored in addition to a stolen base as the Owls captured two of three wins from the 49ers.
Softball will remain in Boca Raton this week to play a doubleheader against in-state rival FIU on Saturday, April 1 beginning at 4 p.m. and then a third game versus the Panthers on Sunday, April 2 at 1 p.m. Men's tennis will take a short break before hosting Lipscomb on Friday, April 7 at 2 p.m.
