ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball team swept its two matches at the Battle on the Bay on Friday. The Owls (14-2) have now won 13 matches in a row. FAU only lost one set on the day, defeating Eckerd College and Jacksonville State both 5-0.
Match 1 vs. Eckerd College
Sam Gott and Maja Ristic had to fight off a pesky Eckerd duo at no. 4, but held on 21-18 in the second set to win their match. Over at no. 5, Nicole Navarro and Nicole Grant coasted to a 21-9, 21-12 win. FAU's no. 1 duo, Jessalyn Kinlaw and Megan Rice overcame a 21-16 loss in the first set to force a third set, winning that frame 15-9. Gabrielle Dischler and Candace Lacour had to fight off a pesky Eckerd duo at no. 2, but won 21-16 in the second set to win their match. Brittany Pellitteri and Jazmine Barker cruised to a fairly comfortable easy victory at no. 3, winning 21-6, 21-11.

Match 2 vs. Jacksonville State
All of the matches were decided in straight sets. Pellitteri and Ristic had to play extra points in the first set at no. 4 before winning their match. Grant and Navarro had the easiest time in their match, winning 21-5, 21-9.
