Sandy Owls Keep Rolling at Stetson Beach Invite

TAVARES, Fla. - (March 17, 2017) - The Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball team stretched its winning streak to nine with a pair of wins at the Stetson Beach Invite on Friday.
Match 1 vs. New Mexico
The Owls (10-2) outlasted New Mexico to take a 3-2 decision in their first match of the day. Three of the five matches went to three sets. Nicole Grant and Nicole Navarro swept their match at no. 4, 21-16, 21-18. Julia Lewkowicz and Ashlan Cunningham won the first set at no. 5, but the Lobos rallied to take the next two sets and the match. On the no. 3 court, Gabrielle Dischler and Candace Lacour had a chance to sweep, but came up just short in the second set. However, they were able to recover and capture the third set 15-11. Jazmine Barker and Brittany Pellitteri fell in straight sets at no. 2. FAU's top duo, Jessalyn Kinlaw and Megan Rice lost the first set 21-10, but responded by taking the next two sets to win the match.

Match 2 vs. Jacksonville State
For the second weekend in a row, the Owls had a fairly easy time in dispatching the Gamecocks, not dropping a set on their way to a 5-0 win. Grant and Navarro had the most convincing victory, winning 21-5 and 21-7 on no. 4. The closest contest came on the no. 3 court, where Lacour and Dischler won 21-12, 21-16.
