BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University baseball team, behind eight fantastic innings from starting pitcher Jake Miednik and a 5-for-5 day from Tyler Frank, topped Indiana on Saturday evening at FAU Baseball Stadium, 6-2.

The Turning Point

The first collegiate hit by freshman catcher Pedro Pages was a huge moment. His opposite-field solo home run to rightfield broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth and pushed the Owls (4-1) ahead for good. They added another score in that same frame on a bases-loaded walk to Stephen Kerr, and pushed across insurance runs in the sixth and eighth.

The Finish

Miednik was fantastic for the second straight start, completing eight innings with only 99 pitches thrown. He scattered five hits, with his only blemish a two-run home run in the third. The junior lefthander walked just one hitter and struck out seven.

Notables

Frank's perfect day began with a single to leftfield in the first, and he came around to score on a seeing-eye single by Austin Langham with two outs, through the same left side
The sophomore leadoff batter then homered in the third inning, an opposite field shot as well, and added singles in each of the fifth, sixth and eighth. He was the runner on third when Kerr was walked in the fifth for his third run scored of the game
Indiana committed four errors, but the only one of consequence was in the sixth. It allowed Brad Mathiowetz to score from third after Frank was safe on an infield single but the throw got through
Frank completed his night with an RBI single up the middle in the Owls' final turn at bat, scoring Eric Rivera
Kyle Marman closed it out with a hitless ninth, ending the game with a strikeout of IU's Colby Stratten

"It was exactly what we needed," said Head Coach John McCormack of Miednik's superb effort. "You lose on Friday night and you come back to the park, and that starting pitcher is huge … He was fantastic, I couldn't be more proud of him and happy for the team."
