Hanson and Boos Claim FAU Player of the Week Title

Softball's Kylee Hanson and women's tennis Lyndsey Boos claim the title of FAU Player of the Week after shutting down multiple opponents last week.
The Reigning C-USA Pitcher of the Year picked up where she left off last season. On Thursday night, Hanson threw a complete game two-hitter and recorded 10 strikeouts in a 1-0 victory over North Florida. On Friday night, she threw another complete game shutout, this time allowing just four hits and striking out 10 to down N.C State 2-0. She capped the weekend off with her third complete game shutout, holding Michigan State to three hits in a 5-0 win. For the weekend, she went 3-0 with 28 strikeouts and threw 21 shutout innings while surrendering a grand total of nine hits.
Boos went undefeated, 4-0, on the week in singles and doubles play combined. On Saturday, Boos helped lead the Owls to their second-consecutive shutout victory, beating FAMU's Dominique Henry 6-0, 6-0 in singles. She then teamed up with Marisa Ruiz to win her doubles match 6-1. Sunday, Boos continued her hot streak with a 1-6, 6-2, 7-5 win against FGCU's Julia Ascua and took her doubles match 6-4, again paired with Ruiz. This is the second time the senior has been named FAU Player of the Week this season.
Softball hosts its second tournament of the season this week beginning on Friday, Feb. 17 when the Owls face Tulsa at 6 p.m. and Toledo 8:15 p.m. The team will then play St. John's on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. and end the tourney with Savannah State on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 1:30 p.m. For ticket information, please call 1-866-FAU-OWLS or visit FAUsports.com.
