Softball Ranked in Final National Polls

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University softball team is ranked in the final polls for both the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and USA Softball, which were released on Tuesday. FAU is ranked No. 23 by USA Softball and No. 24 by the NFCA.
The Owls finished the season with a 51-9 overall record and went 22-2 in Conference USA play, sweeping the C-USA regular season and tournament titles. FAU also had a school record 21 game winning streak and advanced to NCAA Regionals for the second season in a row. Head Coach Joan Joyce was named C-USA Coach of the Year while Kylee Hanson and Madisyn Palmer were named C-USA Pitcher and Freshman of the Year, respectively. Hanson also was named an NFCA Second Team All-American.
Hanson and Palmer were also first team All C-USA selections, as were Emily Lochten, Melissa Martinez and Amanda Wilson. Christina Martinez made the second team.
FAU is expected to return five everyday starters for the 2017 season.
