Final Stats

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A school record eight stolen bases, combined with some sloppy defensive play by Charlotte led the Florida Atlantic University softball team to a 6-0 victory over the 49ers on Sunday. With the win, the Owls completed the series sweep and clinched the Conference USA East Division title. FAU is now 41-7 overall and 16-2 in C-USA play on the year.

• Kylee Hanson threw a complete game, six-hit shutout to pick up her 22nd win of the season.
• Christina Martinez went 2-for-3.
• Alex Miller also tallied a pair of hits.
• Melissa Martinez singled, walked twice and scored twice.
• Madisyn Palmer had two hits, scored twice, scored a run and stole three bases
• The Owls' eight stolen bases in the game broke the previous record of six, which happened twice last season.
• 41 wins is the most for FAU since the 2007 season, when the Owls won 42.

Key Plays
Tatum Buckley singled in Melissa Martinez to give FAU a 1-0 lead in the second. Palmer doubled the lead the next inning when she singled, stole second and third, then scored on a 49er error. The lead doubled again in the fourth when the Owls scored two runs on two hits and another Charlotte error to go up 4-0. The final two runs of the game came in the sixth inning when two more 49er miscues helped FAU go ahead 6-0.
