FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball team wrapped up its regular season with a 3-2 victory over Florida Gulf Coast University on Tuesday.
Nicole Navarro and Heather Weiss lost in straight sets on court four 21-14, 21-18. Natalie Fraley and Nicole Grant rallied from losing the first set on court five to take the match in three sets and tie the score 1-1. Delaney Clesen and Gabrielle Dischler recorded FAU's only straight set victory, winning 21-18, 21-10 on court one.
At no. 2, Brittany Pellitteri and Julia Lewkowicz recovered from a first set loss to take the match and clinch the victory for the Owls. Andrea Galinis and Chelsey Tekavec took a convincing 21-9 set one win on no. 3, but were unable to hold off a FGCU rally, losing 17-15 in the third set. In the exhibition match, Ashlan Cunningham and Jazmine Barker won 21-12, 21-17.
The Owls will take some time off before heading to the CCSA tournament, which begins on April 22 in Emerson, Ga.
