BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic women's tennis hosted Southern Illinois University Edwardsville on Sunday and lost a tough match 5-2. The loss snaps a five match win streak for the Owls. FAU lost the doubles point early in the match and was never able to get any momentum going forward.
The FAU duo of Jennifer Leib and Jazz Whittaker defeated McKenzie Thomas and Ann-Christine Link 6-2 at the No. 3 doubles spot, but it was not enough as the Owls lost positions No. 1 and 2. Leib continued her strong play in singles, defeating Sierra Halverson 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 6 position. FAU junior Bianca Biglione defeated McKenzie Thomas 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 4 spot, to improve to 9-2 on the season. Biglione has won six consecutive matches and is leading the team in wins.
FAU is back in action Tuesday March 8, at 11 a.m. against Conference USA foe UTEP. FAU home matches are played at Patch Reef Park in Boca Raton, FL.
