Beach Volleyball Topples Green Wave, Loses to UCLA

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball split its two home matches on Wednesday, outlasting Tulane 3-2 in its first match, but getting swept by UCLA 5-0 in its second match.
Natalie Fraley and Nicole Grant swept their match at no. 4 to put the Owls (6-4) up 1-0 versus Tulane. Julia Lewkowicz and Ashlan Cunningham fell in straight sets at no. 5 to tie the match. Gabrielle Dischler and Delaney Clesen swept the Green Wave duo to regain the lead for FAU. After Chelsey Tekavec and Andrea Galinis fell in three sets at no. 2, the match came down to court no. 3 where Brittany Pellitteri and Heather Weiss won the third set 15-9 to clinch the match for FAU. Nicole Navarro and Jazmine Barker lost the exhibition match.
The Owls lost to the Bruins 5-0 in their second match of the day. FAU only won one set in the match. That was at no. 4, where Cunningham and Barker forced a third set, but fell 15-7. FAU travels to Deland for this weekend's Stetson Invitational.
