BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University baseball team, on their way to becoming clean-shaven with the turn of the calendar month, presented their collected donations from No-Shave November at the Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute on Friday afternoon.
The entire squad participated in No-Shave November and pooled together over $1,000 in gift cards to raise awareness for cancer and cancer prevention. Head Coach John McCormack and junior Kevin Abraham, each of whom battled and overcame the disease last season, represented the Owls on Friday at the Lynn Cancer Institute, part of the Boca Raton Regional Hospital.
"It is fantastic that we can help bring a measure of relief for people going through such a terrible ordeal," said McCormack. "The players really stepped up and got behind this project. I am extremely proud of them."
The Owls made their check out to League of Ribbons, an initiative that was created "as a force to bring together the talent, heart and dedication of people who want to support the Lynn Cancer Institute and its mission to be united in purpose and to stand empowered against cancer."
