Owls Sweep Charlotte on Senior Day

BOCA RATON, Fla. - (November 12, 2016) - The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team ended its regular season by sweeping (25-23, 25-20, 25-13) Charlotte on Senior Day. The Owls enter the conference tournament with a 15-13 overall record and 10-4 in Conference USA play.
Notables
- Maja Ristic had a match high 15 kills in her final home match as an Owl.
- Sigourney Kame had 13 kills, her first double-digit kill match in nearly a month.
- Abbi Reid had eight kills, four digs, and three total blocks.
- Nathalie Rosado had 10 digs to lead FAU. As a team, the Owls outdug the 49ers 48-34 on the day.
- Genesis Viera had 41 assists and eight digs in the match.
Key Plays
In the first set, the 49ers (7-23, 1-13 C-USA) would build a lead followed by FAU rallying back to tie the score. Trailing 17-16, the Owls went on a 7-2 run to help clinch the set. A similar pattern played out in the second set, with FAU having to fight back to even footing. This time, after an Owls' run gave them set point, Charlotte won the next three points, but a Kristi Tekavec kill ended the frame. An early FAU run made the score 13-6 in the Owls' favor and Charlotte never seriously threatened.
