Owls Rout Blue Raiders in Straight Set Win

BOCA RATON, Fla. - (October 9, 2016) - The Florida Atlantic University won its third straight match with a straight set (25-14, 25-13, 25-10) win over Middle Tennessee on Sunday. The Owls upped their record to 8-10 overall and 3-1 in C-USA play.
Notables
- FAU held the Blue Raiders (4-16, 1-5) to just 24 kills in the match, the fewest allowed this season. The Owls allowed Charlotte just 27 kills in their previous match, tying the fewest given up all season to that point.
- FAU had three players notch double-digit kills, led by Maja Ristic's 15. Sigourney Kame (10) and Gabrielle Dixon (10) joined her in double figures.
- Genesis Viera recorded her third double-double of the season, with 39 assists and 10 digs.
- The Owls hit .511 as a team, their best mark of the year. They also outdug the Blue Raiders 47-22, with Nathalie Rosado leading the way with 13.
Key Plays
FAU scored the first eight points of the match and Middle Tennessee never got closer than six points the rest of the way, with the Owls taking the set 25-14. Ristic had seven kills in the frame. The second set was tight in the early going, before Viera's serving helped FAU to a 7-0 run on the way to a 25-13 victory. The third set was tied at five when FAU reeled off a 13-1 run, coasting to a 25-10 win.
