Baseball Downs a Canadian National Team 16-2

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University's baseball team hosted a Canadian National team in a Sunday exhibition game. The Owls walked away with the 16-2, nine inning win.

• "I look forward to this exhibition game every year. It gives the guys a chance to play outside competition and it's an opportunity to see the newcomers competing in an FAU uniform," said John McCormack, FAU's head baseball coach. "Everyone performed well and we got some good work in tonight."
Sunday Highlights (Per NCAA Rules the game's recap is limited)
- The Owls tallied 17 hits, including nine extra base hits
- Three home runs, including a grand slam
- On the mound, the Owls faced one over the minimum through seven innings
- FAU stranded the leadoff hitter in the first
- Owl pitchers did not permit another man to reach base until the eighth inning when two runs were scored by the Canadians
- FAU pitchers struck out 13 on the night

The Owls will continue fall practice through November 12th. The fall schedule includes the Halloween Game, Monday, Oct. 31 and the Fall World Series. FAU will open the 2016 season February 17th.
