Florida Atlantic University swimming and diving team hosted Indian River State College for their senior day meet on Saturday.
The team of Rachel Crino, Hannah Roper, Laura Conoscenti and Katie Dodge started off the meet with a second place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:47.85). Followed by the team of Paulina Boeger, Bailey Grabenhorst, Megan Reuter and Lydia Musleh finishing the medley in 1:51.89.
The team of John Brennock, John Nolte, Malachi Oakes and Matthieu Burtez were the top finishers in the men's 200 medley relay with a first place finish (1:32.79).
Senior Agnes Bucz had a strong showing on the day claiming first in the 1650 free (17:51.74), second in the 100 free (53.97), and second in the 200 IM (2:09.36). Sahra El-Hamaki followed Bucz in the 1650 free placing second overall, finishing with a final time of 18:06.52. Sophomore Zachary Kitzis was the first finished for the FAU men in the 1650 free, claiming second place with a final time of 16:31.32.
Katie Dodge and Lydia Musleh finished the 200 free bringing home first and second place, respectively with final times of 1:55.25 and 1:56.78. Some other impressive swims for the ladies came from senior Abbey King and freshman Paulina Boeger. King finished first in the 500 free recording a final time of 5:06.11. Boeger claimed a first place finish in the 200 backstroke with a final time of 2:05.59.
Senior Matthieu Burtez shined during the senior meet. Burtez was able to finish first in the 200 free (1:40.91) and in the 50 free (20.79). Burtez was also apart of the 200 free relay team with John Brennock, John Nolte and Malachi Oakes who finished in first place with a final time of 1:23.47. Sophomore John Brennock was also able to bring home another first place finish for the men in the 200 backstroke finishing in 1:53.46.
On the diving side of the realm senior Ryan McIntire got the first place nod in the 1 meter diving event scoring 318.37 and claiming second place in the 3 meter diving event (335.32). For the women divers, Kiley Kuether and Alexa Elkins brought home the first a second place finish in the 1 meter diving competition with scores of 251.17 and 245.32. Kuether and Elkins followed suite in the 3 meter competition as well with final scores of 316.12 and 288.07.
Both men and women came up short versus the Pioneers of IRSC today, with the women falling 156-144 and men falling 179-114.
The Owls will head to Orlando, Fla. to participate in the divers only All Star meet on Februrary 7th. Then the Owls are off to Atlanta, Ga. to compete in the Conference USA (Feb. 24-27) and CCSA (Feb. 17-20) Swimming and Diving Championships.
