SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - The Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team used its best overall performance of the season to defeat UTSA 86-71 on Saturday. It was the Owls' first ever win over the Roadrunners.
The Turning Point
Winning 55-51 with 11 minutes left in the game, the Owls (5-15, 3-4 Conference USA) went on a 14-3 run over the next three and a half minutes. Jackson Trapp and Jeantal Cylla scored all of the points during the run.
Notables
The 88 points were a season high for FAU. The Owls scored 82 in an overtime loss to WKU. Cylla had his second straight 20+ point game, leading the Owls with 22 points.
It was the Owls' first conference road win under Michael Curry. FAU's last conference road win came on Feb. 13, 2014 at UTEP.
FAU made 30 field goals, including 13 threes, and had 11 blocks. All three totals were season highs. The Owls also tied their season high with 16 assists.
FAU committed a season low seven turnovers.
UTSA's (4-16, 3-5) Christian Wilson led all scorers with 28 points.
