Roman Collins Drafted by Kansas City Royals

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Kansas City Royals selected Florida Atlantic University junior outfielder Roman Collins with the 159th overall pick (fifth round) of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft.
"I'm excited for Roman," said John McCormack, FAU's head baseball coach. "We had the opportunity to watch Roman play and contribute to FAU as a junior transfer and I look forward to following his professional career."
In his first season with the Owls, Collins drove in a Conference USA-leading 59 runs and led the league with five triples. The Minnesota native started all 61 games and committed only two errors. Collins totaled 25 extra-base hits, including seven home runs, and had seven RBI at Bethune-Cookman on March 18. He was named Second Team All-Conference USA.
The Owls finished the 2015 season 42-19 and, ranked as high as No. 12 nationally and made their 11th NCAA Tournament appearance. Collins is the 14th player selected in the MLB draft since McCormack became the head coach in 2009.
