BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Florida Atlantic University baseball team earned its 35th win on Sunday as the Owls downed UAB 5-2 to complete a comeback 2-1 Conference USA series victory. With the series win, FAU has clinched a spot in the 2015 C-USA Championship Tournament.

FAU (35-11, 17-7 C-USA) trailed early for the third straight game as UAB (24-21, 11-13 C-USA) scored a lone run in the third on two hits and an FAU error.

The Owls responded in the fourth as Brendon Sanger and Ricky Santiago walked before Roman Collins doubled and Brett Lashley picked up an RBI to give FAU a 3-1 lead.

The Blazers cut the lead to one in the fifth as Adam Lau hit a solo home run to left center, making it 3-2 FAU.

Stephen Kerr walked, Billy Endris was hit by a pitch and Brendon Sanger reached on an error to load the bases to open the eighth. Santiago drew his second walk to bring in Kerr, doubling the lead at 4-2. Lashley then drove in Endris on his C-USA-leading eighth sacrifice fly to get his second RBI of the day.

Brandon Rhodes earned the win, allowing one earned run with no walks and two strikeouts in six innings of work. Reily Monkman and Seth McGarry combined to pitch the final three shutout innings.
