Florida Atlantic University Players of the Week are softball's Delaney Rickey and baseball's Brendon Sanger.
Rickey led FAU to a series victory over UTSA last week as she went 3-for-6 (.500) with two walks and three singles. The Jacksonville, Florida native registered a .667 on-base percentage, reaching safely at least once in all three games of the series. Rickey currently has the third highest batting average on the squad at .346.
Sanger hit .600 on the week and boasts on OPS of 1.043 on the season. The junior hit two home runs Saturday as part of a four consecutive extra base hit streak, reaching safely in eight straight appearances over the weekend. The right fielder drove in five runs and drew four walks and gunned down the potential tying run on Sunday on a 9-2 double play late in the game. Sanger's on-base percentage this week was a whopping .714 while he slugged 1.400. On the season, Sanger is hitting .364 with a Conference USA leading 39 walks.
Baseball will host Florida Gulf Coast for a midweek matchup on Tuesday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m. The team will then travel to Birmingham, Ala. for a three-game series against C-USA opponent UAB beginning on Friday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m. Softball will face Southern Miss this weekend in Hattiesburg, Miss. with the first game slated to start on Saturday, May 2 at 2 p.m.
