HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Senior Ricky Santiago hit two home runs as the Florida Atlantic University baseball team defeated Southern Miss 10-5 in Conference USA action Sunday.

The Owls (31-9, 13-5 C-USA) posted 17 hits, the most allowed by the Southern Miss (21-14-1, 9-8 C-USA) pitching staff this season. Ryan Miller led FAU with his first four-hit game, going perfect at the plate with four singles, a walk and two RBI.

In a contest that began Saturday afternoon, FAU pieced together five hits in the second inning to take a 4-0 lead. CJ Chatham, Miller, Stephen Kerr and Brett Lashley each picked up RBI in the frame.

The Golden Eagles responded with a solo homer in the second and another run in the third to cut the lead in half before the game was suspended due to weather.

When play resumed on Sunday, Bo Logan entered to pitch for the Owls, forcing a bases-loaded groundout to end the threat.

Esteban Puerta led off the sixth with a solo home run, his third homer of the season, to put the Owls back up 5-2 before USM's Tim Lynch answered with a solo shot in the bottom of the inning.

Santiago hit home runs in back-to-back at-bats in the seventh and the ninth to spark an offensive display in the final inning.

The Owls hit through the lineup in the ninth with Roman Collins hitting a double and Chatham picking up a two-RBI single. Miller drove in a run on his fourth hit to increase the FAU lead to 10-3.

The Golden Eagles posted two runs in the bottom of the inning, but were unable to overcome the deficit.
